A Phased Approach to Perfection: How Bitsight’s Website Met the Moment and Kept Evolving

Bitsight

Bitsight, a leader in cyber risk management, empowers companies to identify, assess and mitigate risks both within their own operations and across their third-party ecosystems. As part of a recent rebranding effort, Bitsight introduced a refreshed visual identity that reflected their position as an innovative and trusted partner in cybersecurity. With a major industry conference on the horizon, Bitsight needed to ensure their website reflected this new brand identity—delivering a modern, polished design that matched their elevated look and feel. The updated site not only had to visually align with their rebranding but also communicate their value proposition clearly, effectively engage their audience, and stand out in a competitive market. The redesign was an essential step in positioning Bitsight as the go-to choice for organizations seeking a proactive approach to cyber risk management.

Project Highlights

  • Cross-partner collaboration ensured an accelerated timeline was met to incorporate new brand elements to the existing component-based design system.
  • Reimagining the homepage presented an opportunity to provide a more intuitive user experience, balancing visual appeal with functionality, and align with the new brand.
  • A phased approach allowed Bitsight to debut their rebranded site in time for a key conference without sacrificing long-term quality.
  • Optimizing the CMS greatly improved the editorial experience for the internal Bitsight team, providing greater control and the ability to adapt content for evolving needs.

Taking Advantage of an Existing Design System

Before this redesign, we had already developed a robust, component-based design system for Bitsight, which set the stage for an efficient and seamless update. This foundation allowed us to fast-track the project by reskinning existing components to align with the new branding, rather than starting from scratch. The component-based approach not only saved time but also ensured consistency and scalability across the site.

To enhance the redesign further, Bitsight’s third-party design partner introduced several new components tailored to the updated look and feel. We integrated these net-new elements into the existing design system, expanding its capabilities while staying on track to meet the accelerated timeline. This collaborative and strategic approach allowed us to deliver a fully refreshed site that embodied Bitsight’s rebrand while maintaining the flexibility and efficiency of their component-based framework.

Revisiting the Homepage Experience

While much of this project focused on updating existing components to align with Bitsight’s new branding, it also presented an opportunity to address a key area of improvement: the homepage. Recognizing the homepage’s critical role as the gateway to their digital presence, Bitsight wanted to reimagine it with a clearer, more action-oriented design.

We collaborated closely with the Bitsight team to simplify the homepage’s structure, creating a streamlined user experience that prioritizes clarity and focus. The new design highlights Bitsight’s core value propositions while guiding visitors intuitively toward key actions, such as exploring their solutions, accessing resources, or connecting with sales. By removing unnecessary clutter and refining the content hierarchy, the revamped homepage strikes a balance between visual appeal and functionality, making it easier for users to engage and take the next step. This thoughtful re-evaluation ensured the homepage not only aligned with the new branding but also served as a more effective entry point to the site.

Working Around a Short Timeline

Fast turnarounds often come with the need to make strategic trade-offs, and this project was no exception. With Bitsight’s conference deadline rapidly approaching, we partnered with their team to prioritize the updates that would have the greatest impact, ensuring the website looked cohesive, reflected their new branding, and effectively represented their reimagined identity in time for the event.

For the initial launch, we focused on tweaking the design of key components to align with the refreshed branding while maintaining functionality. This allowed us to deliver a polished, rebranded website within the tight timeline, even as some of the more complex or custom design updates were deferred.

To complete the vision, we immediately began work on a follow-up release, built on a separate branch, to integrate the remaining updates. This phased approach allowed Bitsight to debut their rebranded site on schedule while continuing to refine and expand the design for a fully realized experience. By balancing speed with flexibility, we delivered a high-impact solution without sacrificing long-term quality.

Editorial Experience Improvements

This component-based redesign wasn’t just about refreshing the site’s appearance—it also gave us the chance to improve the editorial experience for Bitsight’s content team. By refining how components function within the CMS, we made it easier for editors to create, update, and manage content without relying on developer intervention.

For example, we adjusted several components to give editors greater flexibility and control. Features that were previously hard-coded, such as background colors or layout options, are now configurable directly within the CMS. Editors can easily select these settings through intuitive dropdown menus or toggles, enabling them to quickly customize pages while maintaining brand consistency.

These optimizations not only enhanced the usability of the CMS but also empowered Bitsight’s team to work more efficiently, reducing bottlenecks and ensuring they can adapt their content to meet evolving needs. By prioritizing a better editorial experience, we turned the redesign into a win-win for both end users and the people managing the site.
